What the platform offers, in engineering terms
One circuit, every stage of care. The same continuous circuit reconfigures with the patient from retrieval through to the ICU — no circuit breakdown, no re-priming at handover.
Redundancy that can be explained to a governance committee. The Lifemotion system provides three layers of pump redundancy: the main centrifugal pump drive, an independently battery-powered backup motor, and a fully mechanical hand crank. Each layer is demonstrable.
Monitoring without additional lines. Circuit pressures, differential pressure across the oxygenator, flow, bubble detection, two temperatures, venous SpO2, haematocrit and haemoglobin are integrated on one console display.
A blood path built for long runs. Phosphorylcholine-coated, heparin-free surfaces across the oxygenator, pump head and circuit sets. DEHP-free tubing throughout.
Built for ANZ distances. Dual batteries with up to 240 minutes published endurance (manufacturer figure), a lightweight carbon-fibre transport core, and a dedicated stretcher and aircraft carrier system developed with Starmed GmbH.
Regulatory status
The Lifemotion ECMO system holds four current ARTG entries in Australia: console (ARTG 528964), oxygenator (ARTG 528771), pump head (ARTG 528772), and circuit sets (ARTG 528773). CE Mark under EU MDR. Supply in New Zealand is subject to NZ regulatory requirements. The manufacturer has published more than 4,500 ECMO cases supported globally.
Local support
Behind the platform is an Australian team: ISO 9001:2015 quality management, AS/NZS 3551-compliant service, and clinical engineers with direct expertise in the device. Installation, commissioning, training, lifecycle management and first-line technical support are delivered here, by people who know the system.
