Lifemotion ECMO in the intensive care unit

In the ICU, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation supports patients whose heart and/or lungs need time to recover. The Lifemotion ECMO system is designed as a complete, coordinated platform for that setting — bringing the console, pump, oxygenator and circuit together at the bedside.

The full trolley-based configuration keeps the console, centrifugal pump head, membrane oxygenator and ECMO sets organised as one system, with integrated fixtures for a spare pump drive motor, sensor cabling, IV poles and heater-cooler mounting — so the working circuit stays tidy and accessible during a long ICU run.

Continuous visibility of the circuit

The console gives the ICU team continuous monitoring of the parameters they rely on — circuit pressures (including differential pressure across the oxygenator), flow, bubble and temperature, plus non-invasive oxygen saturation, haematocrit and haemoglobin — bringing the blood path into one clear display.

Layered pump redundancy

For a therapy that runs continuously for days, resilience matters. The platform is built around layered pump-drive redundancy — a design focus intended to reduce single points of failure during extended support. A haemocompatible blood path for extended runs

Blood-contacting surfaces across the oxygenator, pump head and sets carry a consistent phosphorylcholine coating, a biomimetic surface intended to support haemocompatibility during the extended circulation an ICU course involves.

The same circuit, if the patient needs to move

Because the platform reconfigures from this complete ICU setup down to a portable transport core using the same continuous circuit, a patient established on ECMO in the ICU can be moved for retrieval and transport without breaking down and rebuilding the circuit.
